Black Art Movement, Republic of Africa, and Afro-American Unity were all major/popular organizations that all had the same aspirations. Leaders from these groups came together to help each other out. Although they shared similar ideas, their goals were much different. Leaders would disagree of violence, when others thought it was the right thing to do.
Many Leaders of the Black Power Movement consisted of Malcolm X, Stokely Carmichael, and Angela Davis. Three of these leaders had a major impact on the movement for they were the voice of the people. Carmichael, Malcolm, and many other leaders of the Black Power believed that black people would be better living in an economic environment, where they could organize and establish a "black" economy.
Some successes of the Black Power Movement included: clinics for colored people to cure many diseases that strictly white hospitals would not offer to them, advertisements shown on the television for Black Power, and campaigns for black citizens to elect their own school boards. The Black Power movement was effective at bringing certain social issues to the forefront of mainstream society, as well as causing black populations to gain pride in themselves as a group. The Movement achieved the formation of many civil rights groups including the Black Panther Party, the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), the Southern Christian Leadership Committee (SCLC), as well as record membership of the NAACP and the Nation of Islam.
